An opportunity has arisen to for a Senior Analyst to join the inhouse Strategy team to aid the growth and development of the WAE business.

Job role:

  • Using primary and secondary research build up and keep updated a detailed view of the technology trends within the WAE identified areas of interest (primarily e-powertrain, energy storage and decarbonisation technology segments).
  • Conducting detailed research via interviews with innovators and adopters (by telephone and face-to-face), event attendance, patent analysis, tracking global trends and more, using Technology and Manufacturing Readiness levels to benchmark technology maturity.
  • Produce detailed market studies on identified markets (whether that be current or potential future markets) to support decision making, including market sizing, segmentation, historic performance and future trends.
  • Develop and maintain a view of the competitors within the identified areas of interest, covering, scale, reach, financial performance and trends.
  • Work with technical leadership to develop a robust technology road mapping process to cover the key areas of business focus, considering current industry trends, identifying key gaps in capabilities and opportunities for growth.
  • Produce regular research-based reports on key themes for internal use within the FMG Group into articles and reports covering technology assessments, market insights, analysis of market opportunities, and forecasts. This may also be expanded to potential external audiences via white papers to ensure WAE’s primary position in thought leadership within the e-powertrain and decarbonisation space.
  • Assist other aspects of the business including education of teams and developing topic-specific strategies or research.
  • Represent WAE at industry or market events and conferences international events and by visiting organizations, from introducing the company and what we do to presenting your research findings and strategic insights, whilst building a global network within the decarbonisation space.
  • Lead activities that may be required to support the growth of the business, from target identification through to commercial/ market diligence and integration into the WAE or FFI businesses


You’ll have:

  • Strong technology background (engineering or science-based degree preferred) and interest in decarbonisation technology
  • Experience of analytics and research within the technology space, formalised research structuring an advantage
  • Delivery focussed approach, able to adapt to change in short lead times

Based at our headquarters in Grove, Oxfordshire, with some activities required at our new facility in Kidlington. You may also be required to travel worldwide to support on-going battery programmes.
