An opportunity has arisen for Senior Engineer – Battery Integration to join our Vehicle Integration team in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. The individual will perform a wide variety of HV battery (REESS) integration functions across a range of automotive and/or off-highway battery projects, from concept, through design and development and into industrialisation. The role is highly collaborative, working across technical departments, production departments and directly interacting with clients. This is a highly engaging role, pushing the boundaries of HV batteries and into wider projects for personal mobility, transportation and logistics. 

Job role:

  • Working with discrete project teams to undertake a wide range of battery integration activities for a broad customer base across automotive, off-highway or other engineering sectors.
  • Frequently performing a ‘Technical Lead’ role for HV battery systems, working closing with the client and PMO.
  • Report project health and key metrics to all relevant stakeholders through gateways and cadence reviews.
  • Lead activities of taking engineering designs from concept through to manufacture.
  • Concepting of new battery solutions to meet client performance, cost, timing and envelope requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with Design, CAE, Electrical and Integration technical groups to deliver full battery programmes.
  • Attribute setting, requirement management, and milestone delivery responsibility.
  • Manage DFMEA to predict and mitigate potential issues
  • Manage DVP creation and implementation.
  • Developing solutions that are suitable for volume production and are capable of integration into full vehicle programmes.
  • Be responsible for understanding customer requirements, generating project scope and system specifications
  • Contribute in concepting, packaging reviews, and provide overall guidance for layout and clash-conflict.
  • Work closely with purchasing and production departments to ensure cost and manufacturing capability.
  • Problem solving and fault rectification.
  • Demonstrate a commercial awareness, working with Business Development to generate new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for Battery design and delivery, meeting customer targets and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

You’ll have:

  • A Degree in mechanical, automotive or aerospace engineering.
  • A further high-level qualification in management or business would be advantageous.
  • A keen interest in the climate crisis, decarbonising technologies and products, market trends.
  • Experience of mechanical design in the automotive, motorsport, off-highway or aerospace industries would be advantageous.
  • A broad knowledge of vehicle systems would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience of e-Powertrain systems, such as HV batteries, Motors, gearboxes, power electronics or would be advantageous.
  • Some knowledge of off-highway/heavy industry/mining would be beneficial.
  • DFMEA and DVP experience would be advantageous.
  • Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Working knowledge of engineering software for requirements management, such as Polarion would be advantageous.
