Jaguar C-X75

The project brief

The brief

Developed and launched in just 18 months, WAE partnered with Jaguar to create the revolutionary C-X75 Hybrid supercar. WAE was tasked with providing a demonstrator for new, advanced JLR technologies including extreme engine downsizing with hybridisation, CFRP structures and active aerodynamics.

The work

The work was approached with Race-team style targets for manufacturing with fixed deadlines. As a result, the blank sheet design to start of build was just 12 months, with the first prototype being built in 6 weeks. The vehicle was a true pioneer of its time, sporting an ultra-advanced PHEV powertrain, enabling the emissions of Toyota Prius, the EV range of a Chevrolet Volt, with the performance of a Bugatti Veyron.

The outcome

Acceleration of a Bugatti Veyron – 0-60 < 3 seconds

EV Range of a GM Volt

Emissions of a Toyota Prius – < 99 g/km CO2 Emissions

Uncompromised styling

Carbon Fibre Monocoque

200kg of downforce

I/C engine: 500Hp, 400Nm, 1.6l twin-charged

1.6L 4 Cylinder, 850 bhp (PHEV)

E-motors: 2 x 140kW, 380Nm motors

3 modes: I/C only, EV only or Hybrid capability

CFRP suitable for volume
