An opportunity has arisen for a Principal Engineer – Controls to join our Controls Team at an exciting time in its expansion. You’ll be providing software design support from specification through to testing. Problem solving is at the heart of what we do and you’ll possess the technical know-how to aid project engineering teams across a myriad of sectors, helping global clients achieve their sustainability ambitions.
Job role:
- Deriving software requirements from ECU feature requirements.
- Translation of requirements into a software design.
- Implementation of the design by configuring Autosar modules to meet requirements or implement them directly in C.
- Integrating handwritten C code into an Autosar framework.
- Working closely with other members of the team as well as the hardware team to make sure the SW developed meet the feature requirements at ECU level.
- Support ISO26262 process with traceability from requirement to implementation.
- Develop Unit level and integration level testing with LDRA toolchain.
- Support ECU testing on HIL rig.
- Individual and team workload planning to strict deadlines and milestones.
- Support the development of junior team members.
You’ll have:
- An engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, Degree) in a relevant discipline and or equivalent industry experience as (e.g. Aerospace, Rail and Automation).
- Experience leading small software teams or technical specialists within a software team.
- Knowledge of one or more software development lifecycles.
- Experience of mainstream automotive ECU software development for production following ISO26262 process.
- Proficiency with ETAS or Vector Autosar authoring tools.
- Proficient in bare metal embedded SW development in C on Arm CPU architecture preferably using Xilinx or TI processors.
- Experience/understanding of test, measurement and debug techniques.
- Proficiency with debugging tools like Lauterbach Trace32.
- Experience with LDRA toolchain.
- CANape / CANoe / CANalyzer experience would be beneficial.
- Understanding of Matlab/Simulink code generation process is beneficial.

Location:
We have 2 offices in Oxfordshire, UK; Kidlington, OX5 1GN and Grove, OX12 0DQ. This role could be based at either site for convenience, though occasional visits to both sites will be required. We also offer hybrid working arrangements.
